"The Parent Partnership at Cross Creek Charter Academy is truly outstanding! Having taught in both 4th grade and Fantastic Fives, I am daily amazed at how much each family gives to their child's education and to me. The children in our classroom receive individualized instruction in a 1 to 5 adult-student ratio almost every day of our school year. Parents sign up and help out in the classroom during center time to work with small groups or one-on-one to build all areas of academics, help with recess supervision and at the library. No one teacher could provide such an exciting learning environment without all the extra help. But there is more!  Parents are at home sewing penguin costumes for our studies of Antarctica, building shelves or an electromagnetic work station or a light box for fine motor development on the weekends. Our classroom is enriched even further with parents who come in to sing, make up songs or help us with our Accelerator Reader program. The commitment never ends.  To top it off, I have had parents faithfully help me after the school year ends and in the summer. Wow! We are truly blessed at Cross Creek to have such an amazing learning atmosphere for children to grow, learn and thrive!" 

"I have taught at Cross Creek Charter Academy for 8 years, all of them in the sixth grade. As crazy as this sounds to some people, sixth graders are the best. It is because they are "the best of both worlds"! Sixth graders have the awesome ability to still like their teachers and parents while developing their own uniqueness and learning how to make their voices heard. My classes become my extended family, and "my kids" grow and mature just like in any family. We learn the typical school stuff, don't get me wrong, but there is more to school than language arts and social studies (those are the subjects I teach.) Actually the social stuff is really one of the biggest things middle schoolers deal with. My goal is to be there to help the students navigate these years successfully in a place where each individual is respected. Cross Creek is a great place to chart your own waters. Each year I ask myself why I do this job, and I can honestly say there isn't a better job for me. I love my work, and these kids become like my own. I feel pride in them for their accomplishments and disappointment when they make unwise decisions. We're a family here, and we work together to make it the best it can be. Who wouldn't want to work in a place like this?"
