Community Involvement

Each month our elementary and middle school students focus on a different moral virtue and core democratic value. Cross Creek Charter Academy teachers and staff monitor character development as well as academics. Students do their part to improve our world through community service projects.

The children in every grade at Cross Creek Charter Academy participate in these service projects in the community each year.

These are real life examples of our character education curriculum and the involvement may range from: writing letters to the elderly, cleaning up parks, collecting recyclable items for charities, doing food drives for food pantries, visiting retirement homes, collecting backpacks, or school supplies for organizations helping children and many others.

The Cross Creek kindergarten partners each year with the Critter Barn, a nonprofit animal farm in Zeeland, geared toward allowing children to experience the joy of raising animals. Cross Creek kids have raised over $1500 to feed Miss Mary’s animals.

In addition, Cross Creek Gym classes sponsor yearly Jump Rope for Heart marathons and Walk for Diabetes programs that have raised over $4000 for the Diabetes Foundation.

The National Junior Honor Society continues to exemplify the moral focus traits we teach and are shining examples of leadership in action. They are very involved in school as well as in community activities.

• Hosting Senator Glen Steil at our school
• Running our Spelling Bee
• Raising over $1000 this year by hosting a talent show and other projects for P.O.S.T. a Pediatric Oncology Support Team for children with cancer.
